Holly and Hugo courses are designed for everyone with an interest in pets, animal well-being and anyone who wants to start a career in the animal industry.

At Holly and Hugo we are big animal lovers and spend much time thinking about our beloved pets; how to best understand them and give them happy, comfortable lives in appreciation for what they give us.

We are working with a team of expert veterinarians with over 20 years of experience. They have put together a well organized and thorough package of study that takes you through all the necessary areas you need expertise in.

Most of our students are either already working with animals, are planning to start a career in that field or simply love their pet and want to learn more about how to understand them.

Fast track to a new, promising career by taking our online courses anytime, anywhere you want. No formal qualifications are required to study with us nor do you need to pass an entrance exam. Course Modules are well structured and easy to follow and include exercises and exams throughout so you can check how well you’ve picked up your new training.

The courses were designed for adults, but the content is quite easy to follow. We have had students in their teens completing the courses successfully.

Once you are logged into your course, we ask you to click the “Save and Continue” button on each course page (study material, exercises and exams) in order for our system to track your course progress. The button is located in the right bottom corner of every course page (study material, exercises and exams). This will trigger your Course Progress details to be updated (read more about how to check your progress in “How to check my progress?”). Once you are logged into your course, the overall course progress is displayed along the top panel. You will see an orange bar labelled “course progress”. To see your progress % for each course unit please click on the “course progress” bar. If your module is not fully complete (< 100%) you will have a further option to click and see the unsaved pages. In order to complete that module you will need to go back to your course material and save any unsaved pages. All course pages have to be saved for all of the study, exercise (if included in the particular course) and exams sections.

Once you are logged into your course, you can check your % score at any time during the studies. To check your score for each module please open your course material and click on the “My marks” orange bar (top-right corner of the page). You will be able to view your Score Per Module from there. You will be able to see from here if you have passed or failed a module. Pass mark is 55% of each unit. You can also click on each Unit Heading to see marks from each task within that Unit.

On completion of the course, the combined score % will be converted into one of the following grades:

  • Pass: 55% - 64%

  • Pass Plus: 65% - 74%

  • Merit: 75% - 84%

  • Distinction: 85% - 100%

In order to pass the course, you need to receive a minimum score of 55% from each unit.

To read more about completing the exams please check – “How to complete my exams?”

Most of the exams include single or multiple choice questions. There are also few exams where you are asked to confirm whether a statement is true or false. Your score is calculated as an average of the tasks you complete within the exam section of each module. Please let me know if there is any particular task which you cannot answer – Course Name / Module Number / Page number and I will assist you with it.

A module is failed if you have completed all tasks within that particular module with a combined score from the tasks of less than 55%. If you have failed the module, you only need to re-sit tasks within that failed module until you achieve the pass rate. We recommend that you review details of your marks and go back to the course pages to re-sit tasks. We recommend you re-sit tasks where you scored the lowest % to maximize your chances of achieving a 55% module score. To check your score for each module please open your course material and click on the “My marks” orange bar (top of the page). You will be able to view your Score Per Module from there. You will be able to see from here if you have passed or failed a module. Pass mark is 55% of each unit. You can also click on each Unit Heading to see marks from each task within that Unit. On the course pages with failed tasks you will see the “re-sit” button instead of the “check-results” button. There’s one free re-sit per task and you’ll be charged a fee (3.99/per task) only if and when you re-sit the same task twice.

The re-sit button is placed on the actual course pages where tasks are located. You will only see the re-sit button if all pages within the Module have been saved (Study, Exam and sometimes Exercise - if included in the course). A Module is failed if you have completed all tasks within that particular module with a combined score from the tasks of less than 55%. If you have failed the module, you only need to re-sit failed tasks within that failed module until you achieve the pass rate. Please review the details of your marks and go back to the course pages to re-sit tasks. We recommend that you re-sit tasks where you scored the lowest % to maximize your chances of achieving a 55% unit score. There’s one free re-sit per task and you’ll be charged a fee (3.99 per task) only if and when you re-sit the same task twice.

If the modules are already completed and passed it's no longer possible to re-sit. You can only re-sit a module that is failed. If you pass the module, you can go back to each task and check the correct answers by clicking on ‘check result’ button at the bottom of every task. Since you have access to all answers, it would not be fair to allow any students to re-sit modules that have been successfully passed.

An eBook is a publication in electronic format. It’s like a regular book, but instead of being printed it’s delivered electronically. All our eBooks come in the format of PDF which you can read on your PC, mobile phone, tablet or you can print. Our eBooks include course material which you would have studied online. So if you would like to have the course available to you at any time in an easy-to-read format an eBook will be great for you.

Courses can be studied in any order. I would recommend you check course syllabuses and decide which order suits you best. You can find course syllabus by clicking - Learn More under box with course name and then accessing "Syllabus". Animal Care course is the most general one, then Animal Psychology and Animal Training are good complements. Dog Grooming and Pet Nutrition are more specific. Please note our Start Your Business and Market Your Business courses offer very good add-on informations to anyone who is looking to start and grow their business in the industry.
